This August Ace Tailors is teaming up with the Austin Children’s
Shelter for the 2nd annual Ace Teddy Bear Hospital. The Austin
Children’s Shelter is an organization that provides emergency shelter,
high quality care and hope for the future to the abandoned, abused and
neglected children of our community.
For the entire month all
five Ace Tailors shops will transform their workshops into teddy bear
hospitals to help raise awareness and funds for the Austin Children’s
Shelter and its mission. Children can bring their gently worn dolls,
stuffed animals, and security blankets in to any Ace Tailors location
and have them repaired for a suggested $10 donation. The community at
large is warmly invited to drop by any Ace Tailors to make a donation
to the Ace Teddy Hospital.
This event offers a unique
opportunity to support the community, care for children, and encourage
children to learn the benefits of giving.
Children who bring in
a stuffed animal will receive an Ace Teddy Bear Hospital medical
bracelet that they can fill out and wear while their toy is in the
hospital. All in-store donors will be given a teddy bear cut-out to
fill out and hang up at the location where they donated.
100% of all proceeds from the Ace Teddy Bear Hospital will go directly to the Austin Children’s Shelter.

The
Austin Children’s Shelter is a private non-profit organization that has
provided a safe intermediate home for abused and neglected children
ages birth to seventeen since 1984. To ensure that each child’s needs
are met, ACS provides critical programs including medical and dental
care, group and individual therapy, and educational support. However,
only 35% of their annual funding comes from government sources and the
rest must be raised through events such as this. Each year, the
Shelter cares for approximately 300 children but must turn away twice
as many due to lack of space or proper resources. With the numbers of
confirmed child abuse cases increasing every year, there is a greater
need for space and services than ever before. To meet the needs of
these children, the Austin Children’s Shelter is planning a major
expansion and will break ground on the new facility sometime during the
summer of 2007. For more information on the Shelter and future plans,
visit their website at www.austinchildrenshelter.org.
